Dr. John Weiner
Education: Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine Hometown: Elkland Pets: Scrat, Tess
Chief-of-Staff and companion animal veterinarian at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Care, received his degree in veterinary medicine from the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He attended high school in Elkland, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Weiner has had over 20 years of experience in the practice of veterinary medicine with a wide range of experiences with both small and large animals that have taken him from sheep stations in New Zealand to Idaho, Maryland and Maine and finally, back “home” to Elkland, Pennsylvania, where in January of 2002 he opened the doors of Pleasant Valley Veterinary Care. Today, his focus is on the care of companion animals, with an emphasis on preventive care, wellness and laser surgery.
Dr. Weiner, his wife and two sons live on a farm just outside of Elkland. Their small menagerie includes a golden retriever, several cats, four horses, chickens and a duck.

Dr. Christine Pifer
Occasionally we are pleased to offer the professional services of Dr. Christine Pifer, DVM.
Dr. Pifer is originally from Lewisberry, PA. She received her undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with her veterinary degree in 2015. She enjoys many aspects of small animal practice, especially preventive and wellness care, internal medicine and end of life care.
Dr. Pifer lives near Jersey Shore, PA with her husband and three young boys. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, swimming, playing the piano, and baking. They have two cats named Penny and Ella.

Debbie is the Practice Manager. She joined our team in 2013 and has previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant. Her happy, outgoing personality, ability to multitask and insight into multiple facets of the veterinary setting make her a great asset to Pleasant Valley Veterinary Care.
She and her husband have three dogs and a cat. She also enjoys gardening, cooking, antiquing with her husband and spending time with family and friends.

Angila
Angila is our Client Service Coordinator. Angila came to Pleasant Valley Veterinary Care in 2016. She brings with her a strong background in customer service. Having previously worked in a human hospital, she recognized her love of animals and need to be in healthcare setting bringing her to PVVC. Angila is married with 2 daughters, 3 dogs and 2 cats. She enjoys spending time with her family, crafting and spending time at the beach.

Ciara
Ciara joined the PVVC team in 2018. Ciara has worked in human healthcare as a dialysis technician, medical assistant and phlebotomist.
She has a two cats, Mayleigh and Aspen. Growing up she had numerous pets. Some of the activities Ciara enjoys are spending time with family and friends, bike riding and traveling to the beach.

Katie joined our team in 2021 with 7 years prior experience in the patient care assistant field.
She and her husband have a young daughter as well as 2 dogs and 2 horses.
She enjoys spending time with family and horseback riding as well as photography.

Denise
Denise is a Veterinarian Assistant here at PVVC, her love and understanding of animals brought her here in the fall of 2023. She is an energetic, outgoing helpful part of the team, she is eager to learn and help wherever she is needed.
As someone who grew up with many pets within a large family here in the valley, Denise has always had a natural affinity towards animals which inspired her career choice here at the clinic.
When she's MIA from the clinic, you can find her hanging with her husband and their zoo of 3 kids, 4 dogs, and a cat. While that keeps her quite busy she enjoys weekend thrift store shopping with her husband.

Cherish
Cherish joined our team this year with 3 years experience as a Vet Tech and 10 years experience as a Dog and Cat Groomer.
Growing up she’s had a plethora of cats, dogs, hamsters and fish. Currently, she and her husband Davy have 3 cats - Ellie, Possum, and Scupper.
On her downtime, she enjoys volunteering in her community, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends!
